Okay, Exorcist II? More Like Exorcist...Too Much?

Okay, so I finally got around to watching Exorcist II: The Heretic. I went in expecting...well, I don't know what I expected after all the bad reviews, but wow. It definitely delivered...something. I'm not sure it was 'good' but it was CERTAINLY something. The whole locust thing? Super random. And James Earl Jones in that weird bug outfit? I was laughing so hard I almost choked on my popcorn. My theory is this: the whole Pazuzu/Regan connection wasn't fully severed the first time around. I mean, the movie kinda pushes it, right? Like, Pazuzu's trying to use Regan as a way to, I don't know, redeem himself or something? I'm half convinced the director was on something strong when they came up with that. The whole 'light' vs 'darkness' thing with Regan and the psychologist was...a bit much. Like, we get it, bad demon, good people! I think they tried to make it too deep and philosophical when the first one was just scary as heck. But here's the thing: despite how objectively 'bad' it is, I kinda loved it? It's so over-the-top and bizarre that it's entertaining in a trainwreck kinda way. It's like, they took the original 'Exorcist' and then said, "How can we make this weirder?" And then they just went for it. I mean, that synchronizing scene? Wild! It kinda makes you think about what makes someone evil, or if everyone has some good in them, ya know? So, yeah, overall, 'Exorcist II' isn't exactly a cinematic triumph, but it's...memorable. If you want a good laugh and something REALLY different, it's worth a watch, but definitely don't go in expecting anything like the first movie. It's more of a 'so bad it's good' kinda situation. Just my two cents! Anyone else think the synchronizing machine was the scariest thing in the whole movie? I mean, YIKES!
