The Chaos Class Is on Vacation: Sheer Anarchy or Just Plain Annoying?
Okay, so I just finished watching "The Chaos Class Is on Vacation" (1977) and… woah. I'm kinda torn. On one hand, the sheer ridiculousness of these rich, spoiled brats constantly pulling pranks is almost impressive. Like, the dedication they have to avoiding actual learning? A+. But man, some of the stuff they do is just... grating. I get it, it's supposed to be funny, and sometimes it is, like when they replace the professor's glasses with a pair that makes everything look upside down? Classic. But then they take it too far and it's just... ugh. I think what gets me is that they're all so… unmotivated. They literally just want to mess around and get away with everything because they're rich and privileged. It's both kinda hilarious and depressing at the same time. And the teacher getting pranked kinda deserves the pranks, he is so out of touch. And the way they all stick together is kinda endearing, even though they are total menaces. I actually laughed when they were sabotaging the boat racing, it was so over the top. Reminded me of some stupid stuff I did in high school, minus the inherited wealth part, lol. Honestly, I'm still processing what I just watched. Was it good? I don't know. Entertaining? Definitely, in a train wreck sort of way. I guess it depends on your tolerance for slapstick and morally questionable behavior. Would I recommend it? Maybe, if you're looking for something totally brainless to watch late at night and you don't mind feeling vaguely annoyed afterward. If you are looking for a movie that gets heavy, definitely don't watch it. Anyone else seen it? What did you think? Am I missing something here, or are these guys just unbearable?
