Damien: Omen II - Underrated or am I missing something?
Okay, international film buffs, Priya here! Just re-watched "Damien: Omen II" (1978) and I'm genuinely curious about everyone's thoughts. I feel like it gets overlooked a lot compared to the original "The Omen", but I actually found it… creepier? Maybe it's the whole boarding school setting; something about that sterile environment and the military vibe just really amplified the unsettling feeling. Especially that scene with the ice. Seriously, what was up with that ice scene? Gave me chills (pun intended, haha!). But beyond the scares, I think William Holden's performance adds a lot of weight. He's not just playing a clueless uncle; you can see him wrestle with the growing unease and the realization that something is terribly wrong with Damien. I found the whole 'reluctant believer' thing way more compelling than Gregory Peck's character in the first film. Was he always meant to be the antichrist or was it the circumstances that were turning him bad? I'm not saying it's cinematic perfection or anything, the pacing is a bit off at times, and some of the deaths are kinda ridiculous (seriously, the elevator cable!), but overall I think the atmosphere and the underlying tension are really well done. It stays with you. What do you all think? Is it just nostalgia goggles, or does anyone else appreciate "Omen II" more than it gets credit for? Give me your thoughts! No judgement, I like to hear all opinions on movies. It makes me feel more worldly!
