"Les Bronzés font du ski": Still Funny After All These Years?

Okay, so I just rewatched "French Fried Vacation 2" (Les Bronzés font du ski) after, like, a decade. Honestly, it mostly holds up! The humor is definitely dated in parts – some of the slapstick feels a bit too broad, even for a comedy from '79. But the essential dynamic between the characters – Bernard's perpetual misery, Popeye's outrageous antics, Jean-Claude's cluelessness – it's still gold. I found myself laughing out loud at moments I'd completely forgotten. Specifically, the sequence with the avalanche warning and everyone desperately trying to get down the mountain is brilliantly chaotic. The gag with the exploding fondue pot? Chef's kiss. And the running joke about Bernard constantly losing at every single thing he tries is a masterclass in comedic frustration. Judge me if you want, but Thierry Lhermitte's facial expressions throughout just kill me. That being said, the pacing is a little uneven compared to the first "Les Bronzes." There are a few scenes in the middle that drag a bit, and the ending felt kinda rushed? I think they could've tightened things up a bit in the editing room to keep the momentum going. Still, for a sequel, it's surprisingly strong. Not quite as iconic as the original, but definitely worth a watch if you're in the mood for some classic French silliness. Anyone else have thoughts on this one? I'm curious if the humor resonates differently with modern audiences. I could see some of it feeling a little… insensitive now, even if it was meant to be purely satire. But overall, I had a good time. Definitely got some laughs. Maybe I'll watch it again soon!
