Beyond the Poseidon Adventure... So Bad It's Almost Good?

Okay, so I just finished watching "Beyond the Poseidon Adventure" (the sequel!) and...wow. Where do I even begin? I knew it probably wouldn't be as good as the original (which, let's be honest, is pretty great disaster flick), but I was hoping for some good cheesy fun. And I kinda got it? But in a so-bad-it's-almost-good way. Like, the plot is ridiculous. Two rival salvage crews fighting over the upside-down ship WHILE people are still trapped inside? And Michael Caine's character is supposed to be this noble doctor but he's constantly yelling. And Telly Savalas is just...Telly Savalas being Telly Savalas. It's honestly a mess. I kept yelling at the screen, especially during that whole scene with Veronica Hamel and the gold. Like, girl, run! Did anyone else think the special effects were unintentionally hilarious? Especially those explosions? And the way they tried to make the ship look like it was really deteriorating... it just looked like someone threw a bunch of dirt and grease around. But honestly, I was entertained. It's the kind of movie you can laugh at while also being kinda invested in seeing who survives (even though you know a bunch of them are doomed). What did everyone else think? Am I totally off-base, or is this a hidden gem of cheesy 70s disaster movies?
