Kagemusha: Anyone else think the ending was... abrupt?!
Okay, so I finally got around to watching Kagemusha. Heard so much about it and Akira Kurosawa being like, a GOD of filmmaking, lol. The visuals were STUNNING, right? Especially the battle scenes with all the flags and the slow-motion stuff. Seriously, my jaw dropped a few times. I also thought the actor who played Shingen (and the double!) was amazing. He totally nailed the whole intimidating warlord vibe. Like, I wouldn't wanna mess with that dude even if I knew he was a fake. But, tbh, I was a little thrown by the ending? I mean, things are going downhill for the Takeda clan, and then BAM! Kagemusha's just…dead on the battlefield? It felt kinda sudden, y'know? Like, I was expecting some huge, dramatic moment of realization or a final confrontation with the other warlords. Obviously, war is brutal and random, and maybe that's the point, but I was still left feeling a bit like... that's it? Anyone else feel the same way? Or am I just used to Hollywood endings where everything gets wrapped up in a neat little bow? What did you guys think about the way they handled Kagemusha's ultimate fate? Also, side note: Did anyone else tear up a little when the kid recognized him at the end, even after everything? Hit me right in the feels, ngl.
