Indiana Jones and the Question of Timeless Appeal

Okay, so I just rewatched Raiders of the Lost Ark and man, it still holds up, right? I feel like everyone's seen it, but I'm always curious about what people really think, years later. I'm not saying it's, like, the most profound film ever made, but it's just pure, unadulterated adventure. I can see why it's so influential. Specifically, that opening sequence? The idol, the boulder, the pit of snakes -- iconic doesn't even cover it. And the whole dynamic between Indy and Marion is fantastic. She's not some damsel in distress; she's right there with him, slugging it out. I loved that scene in the bar when she drinks everyone under the table! Though, I still feel a little uncomfortable with the whole 'young woman/ older man' trope thing, but I guess that was just more common back then, unfortunately. I know some people get super critical of the historical inaccuracies or plot holes, but honestly, I kinda don't care? It's just so darn fun! The Nazis are great villains, and the ending, while a little over-the-top (melting faces!), is satisfying. The scene where he just shoots that guy with the sword is a classic. It feels so realistic, considering what Indy is going through. Anyway, just wanted to throw that out there. What are your guys' thoughts? Does it still feel fresh, or has it aged a bit? Any particular scenes or characters that stand out for you? Let's discuss! It's fun to analyze why some movies simply endure, and this one definitely has something special.
