Snake Plissken: Still Badass AF After All These Years

Okay, so I finally got around to watching "Escape from New York" (I know, I'm late to the party, sue me!). I gotta say, Kurt Russell as Snake Plissken is iconic for a reason. That eye patch, that gravelly voice...dude is just pure, unadulterated cool. The whole concept of Manhattan being a giant prison is pretty wild, and honestly, kinda prescient considering... well, you know, the world these days. I really dug the practical effects too. The sets felt grimy and real, like you could actually smell the decay. And the tension? Chef's kiss. That scene where Snake is crawling through the tunnels, trying to find the President but running into all sorts of crazy characters, had me on the edge of my seat. Also, Isaac Hayes as the Duke? AMAZING casting. He just oozes villainy. Honestly, the whole supporting cast is pretty great, even if some of the dialogue is a little cheesy (but in a good way, ya know?). I'm not gonna lie, the ending felt a little abrupt. Like, boom, credits roll. I was kinda hoping for a bit more closure, especially with Snake's whole 'eff the system' attitude. But maybe that's the point, right? No happy endings, just survival. It's definitely going on my list of favorites. I'm probably gonna watch "Escape from L.A." next, even though I've heard mixed things... gotta complete the Plissken experience, ya feel me? So yeah, if you haven't seen it, def check it out. It's a super fun, action-packed ride with a healthy dose of 80s dystopia awesomeness. Plus, Kurt Russell. Enough said! 🤘
