Okay, Forbidden World...Anyone Else Think It's WILDLY Inappropriate (Oops!)?

So, confession time. Last night was supposed to be family movie night. Pizza, blankets, the whole shebang. And I, in my infinite wisdom (or lack thereof), thought a sci-fi flick sounded fun. I somehow stumbled upon "Forbidden World" (1982) and, ya know, the retro cover art sucked me in. Didn't really do my research, I admit it. BIG mistake. HUGE. Let's just say the 'genetic experiment gone wrong' part was accurate... but the sheer amount of totally gratuitous nudity and gore caught me COMPLETELY off guard. I was scrambling for the remote faster than you can say "Federation Marshal." It's, like, a total schlock-fest! And not in a fun, campy way either. The scenes with Barbara Crampton are... well, let's just say they are nightmare fuel for a mom trying to create a safe movie night experience. I still feel awful I exposed my kids! Anyone else accidentally watch this thinking it was a space adventure for all ages, only to find it's borderline softcore porn? I obviously didn't see what it was, but did anyone enjoy it? Besides the obvious inappropriate content (which, DUH, I should have double-checked), I'm actually kind of fascinated by the special effects, awful as they are. The monster, Subject 20, is just so hilariously bad it almost works in a weird, ironic way. And the whole premise-- scientists messing with stuff they shouldn't-- is a classic sci-fi trope. But seriously, HOW did this get past censors (or, more likely, what censors were there in '82)? I'm genuinely curious now. Has anyone actually enjoyed "Forbidden World"? And if so, what did you like about it other than the… ahem… mature content? I need to redeem myself with a wholesome film next weekend!
