Krull: Sword and Space? βοΈπ Was I DrEaMiNg?
Okay, so last night we watched Krull. I'd never seen it before, but Liam was SO insistent. Apparently, it's a childhood fave? And like... wow. I'm still processing. It's this insane mix of medieval fantasy and straight-up sci-fi. Alien invaders with laser glaives showing up to kidnap a princess on a planet with knights and castles? Someone had a fever dream, I swear. The Beast was actually kinda creepy though, not gonna lie. And that fortress that teleports EVERY DAY?! What kind of evil genius thought that up? Prince Colwyn seemed a little bland TBH. Like, he was fine, but kinda a typical hero-type. But that whole throwing-star-glaive thing was pretty cool. I did like Ergo the Magnificent, though -- David Battley NAILED that role. He was so adorably useless and then BAM! Turns into a tiger. What a glow up! And the Cyclops! Legitimately heartbreaking scene, even if it was a bit convenient. Overall, it was... an experience? It's definitely not a perfect movie -- the effects are super dated, and the plot's kinda all over the place. But it has this weird charm to it. Like, it's trying so hard to be epic, and it's so sincere in its silliness that you can't help but root for it. So, Liam's happy. I'm happy-ish? I think? I am a little glad I saw it. Itβs definitely a movie you need to see to believe. What were your thoughts if you've seen it? Am I missing some vital piece of 80s nostalgia that would suddenly make it perfect? Let me know!
