Okay, "Class" (1983) - Still Holds Up... But That Ending?!
Alright my movie buffs, watched "Class" (1983) again last night with the crew and wow, it's still so awkward and hilarious. I mean, Rob Lowe as Skip is just peak smarmy charm, isn't he? And Andrew McCarthy as Jonathan is perfectly guileless. That whole build-up to Jonathan's "older woman" encounter is so cringe-inducing, you just KNOW something's gonna go sideways. Anyone else think McCarthy was incredible at portraying the kind of wide-eyed, deer-in-the-headlights naivete he brought to that role? But seriously, we need to talk about the ending. The big reveal... Skip's MOM?! I mean, I was totally expecting some other twist, but that just came out of left field. Was anyone actually surprised by it, or was it just me and my easily-shocked friends? I feel like the movie spent so much time building up the buddy-buddy relationship between Jonathan and Skip, the mom thing felt kinda... rushed? Maybe I'm just not a fan of that type of plot twist, lol. I still liked it overall, especially all the 80s vibes, the clothes, the music, the total lack of internet ruining everything. But that ending... Did it work for anyone else? Or did it feel a bit too unbelievable, even for a teen comedy? What are your thoughts and favorite moments?
