Okay, 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' - That Was WILD!

So, I finally took the plunge and watched 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' from '84. No clue who directed it, but holy moly, that was a trip! I went in pretty much blind, just knowing it was a horror classic. The premise is insane: this child molester named Fred Krueger (whoa, right off the bat things are dark) is haunting these kids' dreams and if he gets you there, you die in real life?! I'm surprised this was made lol. The bathtub scene with Nancy (the main girl, right?) actually freaked me out. Like, full-on goosebumps. And the way her mom was acting - hiding stuff, clearly traumatized - ugh, gave me the creeps too. Johnny Depp's character getting sucked into the bed and then a geyser of blood erupting? Yeah, I'm not sure I'll sleep well tonight. It was pretty cheesy at times, I won't lie, but that added to the charm, almost. I'm trying to figure out why everyone loves this movie, and I think it's the concept of dreaming, and not being able to escape your nightmares. A lot of this movie does not make sense, and the effects are kinda bad, but it’s also scary? Am I crazy? Overall, I'm gonna give it a solid thumbs up. It's definitely earned its place in horror history. It wasn’t perfect, but it's memorable and has some truly bonkers moments. What did you guys think? Any other older horror movies I should check out after this one? I'm officially intrigued!
