OMG Footloose is STILL a Vibe!
Okay, I just re-watched Footloose (the OG, obvi) and I forgot how much I LOVE this movie! Like, sure, it's totally cheeseball and dated, but that's part of the charm, right? I mean, Kevin Bacon dancing in that warehouse? Iconic. Especially with the teenage angst and the whole 'town that bans dancing' thing. So ridiculous, but also kinda compelling. I'm not even gonna lie, I know all the words to 'Holding Out for a Hero' (which, side note, is Bonnie Tyler, Queen!). And I kinda wanted to learn the angry dance he does by the cars, so cool. But seriously, I actually think the whole 'ban on dancing' thing is a metaphor for something bigger... like, controlling young people or something? Maybe I'm thinking too much, lol. Regardless, I was bopping the whole time! Okay, so it's not gonna win any Oscars or anything, but for pure entertainment value, Footloose still delivers. Lori Singer as Ariel was great- I felt so bad for her escaping a bad situation at home. And the end dance battle is just pure 80s perfection. Is it the best movie ever made? Nah. Was I singing along and pretending I was at the prom with Kevin Bacon? Absolutely! Has anyone else re-watched it recently? Or am I just stuck in the past? lol. Let me know what you think! Oh, and by the way, what exactly was the deal with the tractor scene? I'm still trying to figure that out...
