"Tourist Trap": More Than Just Creepy Mannequins?

Okay, so I finally got around to watching "Tourist Trap" after years of hearing about it. And yeah, it's unsettling, no doubt. But I kept thinking there's gotta be more to it than just a slasher flick with some particularly freaky mannequins. I mean, the whole psychic power angle with Slausen felt almost underdeveloped, which is weird. Like, they introduce it, use it for some jump scares, and then kind of forget about it? I think the film uses the supernatural as a metaphor for alienation. Think about it: these kids are literally cut off from the world, their car deliberately sabotaged, drawn into this isolated space governed by Slausen. He controls the environment, the mannequins become him and his twisted desires. It's all about the power to manipulate and control perception, which is kinda what being alienated feels like, right? You're at the mercy of someone else's reality. And those masks... man, those masks were disturbing! They weren't just scary, they were like blank canvases for Slausen's psychosis. Each one reflecting a different aspect of his fractured personality, maybe even representing past traumas or desires. The scene where the mannequin is holding a gun and talking, supposedly with Slausen's voice? Chilling. And I'm not sure if it was just the low budget special effects, but there was something incredibly authentic about those scenes. It felt less like a polished horror movie moment and more like stumbling onto something genuinely messed up. The ending's a bit ambiguous too. Is the final girl really free, or is she just trapped in another layer of Slausen's warped reality? I lean towards the latter. The fact that he can project his consciousness into the mannequins suggests a total lack of boundaries, a complete inability to let go of control. So, is she freed or does she just not yet realize she is trapped? So it's not just a slasher, it's a commentary on isolation, control, and the terrifying power of a deranged mind to construct its own reality. Anyone else pick up on the isolation angle? Or am I reading too much into a mannequin massacre?
