Just watched Paris, Texas...Woah.
Okay, so last night me and the crew finally got around to watching Paris, Texas. I'd heard so much about it, how 'artsy' and 'deep' it was, and I was honestly a little intimidated. But wow, it really got to me. The whole vibe is so… lonely? Like Travis just walking out of the desert, totally lost. Harry Dean Stanton is incredible; he says so little but conveys SO much. The scene where he's finally found by his brother Walt (Dean Stockwell) and just stares...chilling. What really punched me in the gut was the whole mystery of why he left in the first place. The gradual reveal of what happened with Jane (Nastassja Kinski) through those peep show booths was genius – and heartbreaking. I get why it's a bit slow-paced for some, but honestly, the pacing allowed you to really sink into the characters' feelings. Totally felt their pain and regret--like you, the viewer, are right there with them, understanding things as they do. I'm still chewing on the ending. Did he do the right thing? Was it selfish, or the ultimate act of love/redemption? I honestly don't know, and I think that's the point. Did anyone else find the Wim Wenders direction absolutely gorgeous? Like, the cinematography was on another level! Maybe it got to me because I'm in a reflective mood lately, but Paris, Texas struck a chord. What are your thoughts? Oh, and totally random, but anyone else think that Hunter Henderson (Hunter Carson) kind of looks like a young Elijah Wood? 😂 Just an observation. Anyway, highly recommend if you're into thoughtful, character-driven stories that stick with you long after the credits roll. Just be prepared to feel things!
