Paris, Texas - Hear me out: is Travis a stuntman gone AWOL?

Alright, alright, settle down action junkies, I know this ain't your typical explosion-fest, but hear me out on this 'Paris, Texas' thing. I finally got around to watching it, and something about Travis (Harry Dean Stanton's character) just screamed 'more to the story' than what we get on the surface. The dude walks out of the desert, burnt to a crisp, memory gone... like he's been through some serious S#!t that's fried his brain. My theory? He was a stuntman. Think about it: the resilience, the willingness to just EXIST in that harsh landscape, the way he can handle himself later on (even if clumsy and emotional). It's not just 'broken man' to me, it's something more. Like he's trained for survival, but the trauma of whatever stunt went wrong wiped him clean. Maybe he saw something he wasn't supposed to. The scene where he's just staring out at the Texas horizon? That's not just regret, that's like a dude processing a massive system failure, trying to reboot his own operating system. And let's not forget, some stunt jobs require a LOT of solitary work Of course, maybe it's just the way Sam Shepard wrote the damn thing, lending it to a more dramatic explanation with his own personal background. But, it would be interesting to see if the original script had a stuntman background for Travis. I know it's a long shot, and probably just me projecting my love for practical effects and danger onto every damn movie I see, but still... the pieces are there, right? Or am I just completely off my rocker? Weigh in, folks!
