Richard Pryor: Live in Concert - No score, but STILL cinematic gold!

Okay, fam, Hughesreviews here. I know, I know, I'm usually all about the scores, but sometimes you just gotta acknowledge a film that's pure, unfiltered brilliance even without a sweeping orchestral backdrop. And "Richard Pryor: Live in Concert" is definitely that. It's just Pryor, a mic, and a captivated audience... and honestly, the way he crafts narratives with just his voice and physicality? That's more cinematic than half the CGI blockbusters out there. I was thinking about it after watching it again last night - it's almost a shame there's no score, right? Imagine what someone like Lalo Schifrin could have come up with to underscore the more poignant moments, like the heart-wrenching stories about his childhood. I feel like Ennio Morricone could have done something so interesting and weird to go along with the mudbone monologue and the details about his heart attack. I know, sacrilege to even suggest messing with Pryor's genius, but still... something I was pondering. But then again, maybe the lack of score is what makes it so raw and powerful. It's just him. No frills, no distractions. Did anyone else feel that way? Like, initially wanting a score, but then realizing it's perfect as is? What are your favorite bits from the performance? And on a sidenote (sorry for the tangent!) what do you call a movie that's just someone speaking? Is there an official name? Like, I know it's a comedy special, but it's also a concert film? It's kinda in between, right?
