Conan the Destroyer: Dumb Fun or Just Dumb?

Okay, so I finally got around to watching "Conan the Destroyer" and...wow. It's definitely something, lol. I dunno, maybe it's just the nostalgia talking, but I kinda enjoyed it? It's so cheesy and over-the-top, but in a good way? The whole quest thing with Queen Taramis (she was SERIOUSLY campy, I loved her) felt like a D&D campaign gone wild. And Grace Jones as Zula? Iconic. She basically stole every scene she was in. The fight with the wizard in the mirrored room was actually kinda cool, even though the effects are super dated now. I'd be lying if I said the kid, Malak, didn't get on my nerves though. So many opportunities to leave him behind LOL. Arnold himself... well, he's Arnold. Not exactly giving us Shakespeare, but he's charming in his own barbarian way. Honestly, the story is kinda predictable, and some of the special effects are laughably bad (that Dagoth monster, yikes!), but it's still a fun watch if you’re in the mood for some brainless action. Like, you KNOW you're not watching Citizen Kane here, right? We're here for muscles, monsters, and ridiculously oversized swords. I think the biggest crime is that they toned down the violence from the first movie. I get that they were going for a wider audience, but it lost some of the gritty feel. Still, it's way more lighthearted than "Conan the Barbarian," which some people might prefer. Is it a great movie? Nah. Is it a good time? If you can embrace the silliness, then yeah, definitely. I'd give it like a 6/10. Perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon when you don't wanna think too hard. Should I check out Red Sonja next for more Brigitte Nielsen/Arnold action? Also...Akiro the Wizard had some pretty good lines, even though he gave me the creeps, LOL. I'm a sucker for a good magic user in movies like these!
