Deathstalker: Okay, hear me out... Munkar's motivations?
Okay, so I've seen Deathstalker... let's just say a few times. It's definitely a product of its time, and not exactly winning any awards for subtlety, lol. But something's been bugging me about Munkar. We're told he wants to unite the three powers to... what, exactly? Global domination? Generic evil stuff? It feels kinda flimsy, even for this movie. But what if... what if Munkar isn't actually trying to conquer the world? What if he actually believes he's protecting it? Think about it: the powers of creation are scattered, vulnerable. Maybe Munkar thinks he's the only one strong (and, admittedly, power-hungry) enough to control them, not just for personal gain, but to prevent them from falling into worse hands? Like, Deathstalker himself is kinda... reckless, am I right? He's more interested in booty (and not the treasure kind, wink wink) than responsible artifact management. I know, I know, it's a stretch. And Munkar is clearly a jerk. But the movie never explicitly states his end goal beyond vague 'evil' mumbo jumbo. Maybe he's just misunderstood? Plus, I keep noticing how carefully he's dressed and how he decorates his evil man cave. I can't help but think, "This guy actually cares". Am I crazy, or is there some depth to this guy? Let me know what you think. (P.S. - That chick who gives Deathstalker the sword? HOT. But seriously, WHY does she trust him so easily? Another plot whole that supports my theory!)
