Okay, Trek III... I Have Thoughts (Mostly About Grumpy Bones)
Alright guys, so I finally watched Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. I know, I know, I'm late to the party. But hey, I'm making my way through the classics! Ok, I'm gonna be honest... this one was kinda weird, right? Like, the whole Genesis planet thing was cool visually, but also felt a bit rushed? I'm still trying to piece it together. I didn't know what to expect, but I was hoping for a little more Kirk vs new alien or something. This was much more insular dealing with the crew themselves. But here's what I did really enjoy: McCoy! DeForest Kelley absolutely killed it. The whole 'Spock's katra' thing inside him had me cracking up. The scene where he's yelling at Kirk about needing to go to Genesis was gold. I also really liked Christopher Lloyd as Kruge. He was a great villain, super menacing but in a kinda subtle way, you know? The bridge scene where he orders the torpedoes just felt evil. And Kirk blowing up the Enterprise? Man, that was a bold move. Didn't see that coming. I'm not sure if I loved it as much as Wrath of Khan, but I definitely wouldn't skip it. It's essential viewing for the Spock storyline, and the character moments are really strong. Also, am I the only one who thought Saavik looked totally different? I had to double-check to make sure I wasn't crazy. What happened there? Overall, I give it a solid... hmmm... 7.5/10? Good not great. Now, on to Star Trek IV! I heard that's the one with the whales. So excited!
