The Bounty (1984) - First Time Watcher Thoughts!

Okay, so I finally got around to watching 'The Bounty' (1984). I knew basically nothing going in except it had something to do with mutiny on a ship and Tahiti. Turns out, that's pretty much the whole story, lol. I gotta say, Liam Neeson was surprisingly young! He was a small part, but I didn't even recognize him for a bit. Mel Gibson as Fletcher Christian... man, those baby blues are intense. I can kinda see why the crew would follow him. But Anthony Hopkins as Captain Bligh? Chilling. He really nailed that controlling, simmering rage thing. The scene where he's just staring daggers at Christian while they divide the bread? Pure tension. I kept thinking, 'Dude, just chill!'. I guess that's the point. I think the movie painted him as a complex dude, not just a straight-up villain. Tahiti looked amazing, btw. No wonder the crew went nuts for it. I kinda get the mutiny, honestly. Who wouldn't trade rough seas and a crazy captain for sunshine, fruit, and... well, you know. The pacing felt a little slow in spots, but overall, it kept me engaged. The ending was properly bleak, though. No Hollywood happy endings here. Makes you think about the whole thing. Overall, a solid watch. Not sure if it's going straight into my all-time favorites list, but I'm glad I finally ticked this classic off my list. Any other versions of this story I should check out? Let me know!
