Night of the Comet: Totally Rad or Totally Awful? (I think both)
Okay, so I just watched "Night of the Comet" and I'm SO confused, but in a good way? Like, it's so bad it's good kinda movie. The plot is bonkers: comet wipes out almost everyone, leaving only a few survivors who either turn into dust or…zombies? And then there's a secret government thing going on. It's a LOT. But the best part is the two main girls, Regina and Samantha. They're like, total Valley Girls, worried about shopping and boys even though the world's ending! I loved the scene where they're raiding the department store for clothes and makeup - iconic! And when they're trying to figure out how to use the Uzi? Hysterical. The dialogue is SO cheesy, but I was laughing the whole time. Like, when Regina says "Daddy would have gotten us Uzis" kills me every time! I gotta admit, the zombies themselves weren't exactly scary. More like…slightly confused shoplifters with sunburns? And the scientists were kind of cartoonishly evil. But honestly, that's part of the charm. It's not trying to be scary, it's just trying to be fun. It's like someone threw "Valley Girl" and "Night of the Living Dead" in a blender, added a dash of 80s synth music, and hoped for the best. And you know what? It kinda WORKS. So yeah, if you're looking for a serious horror movie, this ain't it. But if you want something silly, campy, and totally 80s, "Night of the Comet" is definitely worth a watch. Just don't expect it to make a lick of sense. LOL!
