Muppets Take Manhattan: Still holds up (and makes me crave Chinese food?)

Okay, so I rewatched "The Muppets Take Manhattan" last night and it's still so much fun! I mean, the plot is pretty basic: Muppets try to make it on Broadway. But who cares when you've got so many catchy songs and hilarious moments? I totally forgot how much slapstick they packed into this movie. The scene where they're all working in different jobs – Fozzie as a car washer, Gonzo doing something with watermelons... pure chaos, and I loved it. My favorite part, hands down, is when Kermit's amnesia plotline kicks in and he's just hanging at Pete's Luncheonette. The whole diner scene is so heartwarming, especially when he learns about Jenny. Also, Pete's constant offers of Chinese food to Kermit are hilarious and weirdly make me want takeout. I'm not sure who directed it, but they really nailed the 'underdog trying to make it big' vibe without getting too cheesy. I will say, though, the whole Miss Piggy romance stuff felt a little forced, even for the Muppets. Like, we get it, she's obsessed. But some of the more aggressive scenes were a tiny bit uncomfortable. But overall, if you need a feel-good movie with some great tunes and Muppet mayhem, you can't go wrong with this one. It's a solid 8/10 for me... maybe even an 8.5 cuz I'm craving Chinese now!
