Muppets Take Manhattan: Still Holds Up!
Okay, so I rewatched "The Muppets Take Manhattan" last night and it was pure nostalgic joy! I forgot how hilarious and heartwarming it is. Seriously, who doesn't love seeing the Muppets trying to make it big in the city? The whole 'putting on a show' plot is classic Muppets, and the songs are still so catchy. I was singing 'Together Again' for like, an hour afterwards, lol. My favorite part has GOT to be when Kermit's lost and has amnesia and ends up working at that stereotypical soup place... and then Piggy finds him in the wedding dress! The whole wedding scene is just chef's kiss. So ridiculous and over-the-top, but that's why it's great. Plus, seeing all the Muppets come together to support Kermit and Piggy's show at the end is just...feel good movie stuff. I think what makes this movie so great is how seamlessly it blends the Muppets' signature brand of wacky humor with genuine heart. Like, yeah, it's silly and kooky, but you also really root for them. Also, it's New York in the 80s - the vibes are immaculate. I think it's one of those movies that just gets better with age. Anyone else a big fan of this one? What's your favorite scene or song? I'm curious to know if it's just my childhood talking, or if others think it's still a solid Muppet movie (spoiler: it is!).
