Okay, Ewok Adventure is WEIRDER than I remember...
So, last night we watched "The Ewok Adventure" and...whoa. I haven't seen that movie since I was, like, super little. I mostly just remembered Wicket being cute. Okay, he STILL is. BUT. Did anyone else think it was kinda messed up that these little kids, Mace and Cindel, are basically just wandering around the forest after their parents are kidnapped (or worse, right?!). The Ewoks are adorable, and I get that they're trying to help, but like, their whole culture seems REALLY primitive compared to these humans. Feels almost...Colonial-ish? I don't know, maybe I'm thinking too much into it. Here's my theory though... what if the whole thing is a Force vision or something? Like, maybe the kids actually DID die in the crash, and their parents also got got by the Gorax (that thing was terrifying!), and this whole 'adventure' is just their Force ghost families trying to cope up? It would be a way more interesting movie, that's for sure. Think about it: primitive creatures helping lost kids navigate unknown territory after something bad, it's all an analogy for grief and survival... maybe? And the Gorax! Seriously, that practical effect was nightmare fuel. What was that thing anyway? I know they're supposed to be kinda like Bigfoot, right? But the whole vibe of the movie felt so different to the Star Wars universe- the magic, the monsters- it might as well be a different movie. But, I’m not gonna lie, I kind of loved it. A very, very guilty pleasure. I'm not saying its a cinematic triumph, but it definitely took me back! Let me know if I'm crazy, or if anyone else had similar thoughts while watching! Also, minor detail, but I just need to say that Cindel's hair was amazing- it was shiny, the curls were in place, and she was out in the forest with no shower. How?!
