Okay, "All of Me" - Lily Tomlin Steals the Show (Obviously!)
So I finally got around to watching "All of Me" (1984) and, yeah, it's definitely a product of its time, lol. But honestly, Lily Tomlin's performance? Pure gold. Like, Steve Martin is great - physical comedy ON POINT - but Tomlin just nails embodying that entitled rich lady, Edwina. The way she contorts her face trying to control Steve's body? Hilarious. I'm curious though, did anyone else find the pacing a bit... uneven? There are moments of absolute comedic brilliance, like when she's first trying to learn to use Steve's body to put on makeup, and then there are scenes that just kind of fall flat? Maybe it's just me. Also, and this is probably a super specific question, but did anyone else think the scene where they're at the horse race felt a little... I dunno, forced? The whole 'Edwina betting and winning' plot point seemed kinda tacked on, almost like filler. But yeah, Lily Tomlin. I feel like she often gets overlooked when people talk about comedic actresses, but her timing and commitment to the character is just phenomenal. She totally carries the movie, imo. What were your favorite Tomlin moments? Did anyone else walk away thinking she was the MVP, or am I totally biased? Oh! And one more thing - the spiritual transfer concept seemed a little... underdeveloped? Maybe I'm thinking too much about it, but it felt like they could have explored the implications of that a bit more. But hey, it's a comedy, so maybe I'm asking too much, haha.
