Against All Odds -- Totally '80s, Kinda Cheesy, Still Enjoyable?

Okay, so I finally got around to watching "Against All Odds" (1984) the other night, and WOW, talk about peak '80s vibes! Like, the music alone is enough to transport you back in time. Jeff Bridges as Terry Brogan is pretty solid, all brooding and athletic-looking. I gotta admit, the plot is kinda convoluted tho, right? Football player turned PI... chasing down a woman in Mexico... shady nightclub owner... It's a lot. Rachel Ward as Jessie Wyler...okay, she's stunning, no doubt. But their whole romance felt a bit forced, at least initially. The love scene at Chichen Itza? Iconic '80s cheesiness, but hey, I'm not complaining TOO much. James Woods as Jake Wise, the villain? Dude is fantastic. He's got that smarmy, sleazy thing DOWN. Also, wasn't Jane Greer in the original OUT OF THE PAST?! So meta! I didn't realize till AFTER I watched it. The soundtrack is legitimately amazing. I mean, Phil Collins's title track is legendary, obvs. Overall, it's not a perfect movie by any means. The pacing is a little off, and the plot gets kinda ridiculous at times. BUT, if you're in the mood for some classic '80s action/romance with a healthy dose of melodrama and killer music, it's worth checking out. Plus, Jeff Bridges lookin' FINE. Just sayin'. Anyone else seen it? What did you think? Am I the only one who secretly enjoys the cheese factor?
