Razorback: Jaws Down Under?

Hey all, moviebuff_marc checking in. Just watched Razorback (1984) again, and man, that thing is still freaky. I know, I know, it's not exactly Spielberg, but something about a giant killer pig roaming the outback just sticks with you, ya know? Reminds me a bit of Jaws, but instead of a great white, it's a freakin' boar the size of a small car. Anyone else get that same vibe? And that cinematography! Some of those Outback shots are gorgeous, even though they're mostly hiding a rampaging porker. And the sound design? Yikes! The snorting and squealing still gets me. But gotta admit, some of the acting feels a bit… off. Especially those two crazy brothers, Benny and Dicko. They were definitely going for that Deliverance weirdness, but landed somewhere closer to, well, just plain annoying. One thing I've always wondered: did the director try to use the Razorback as somekind of metaphor for environmental damage or something? It kinda felt like they were going for that theme with the whole 'land being destroyed' angle Anyone else seen it recently? What did you think? Is it just me, or does this one deserve a little more love than it gets? Maybe I'm just nostalgic for the days when practical effects ruled and CGI wasn't even a twinkle in George Lucas' eye. Chime in!
