"Johnny Dangerously" - Underrated Gem? (Especially the SOUND!)

Okay, so I just re-watched "Johnny Dangerously" last night, and man, it's still hilarious. Obviously, Keaton is gold in everything, but what really struck me this time was the sound design, specifically in the gangster scenes. Like, every time Danny Vermin pulls out that freakin' machine gun, it sounds SO over-the-top cartoonish, but in the best way possible. It's almost like they were going for a 1930s radio drama on acid. Anyone else notice that? I think it really adds to the absurdity and comedic timing. And speaking of absurdity, the special effects (or lack thereof!) are part of its charm, right? The whole electrocution scene with Roman Moronie? So cheesy, but it totally works. It's like they knew they couldn't compete with modern special effects, so they just leaned HARD into the camp. I kinda respect that. It's not trying to be something it's not. I'm curious, what's everyone else's favorite little detail or moment in the movie that maybe goes unnoticed? For me, it's the over-the-top sound mixing and how intentionally bad some of the effects are. Am I alone in appreciating this stuff, or are there more folks out there who think it elevates the movie's comedic impact? Maybe I should get out more. :) One more thing... did anyone else find it weird (and funny) that they never actually say who directed the movie? Like, who was brave enough to unleash that level of sillyness onto the world? Mystery director, you have my respect!
