Blame it on Rio... More Like Blame it on Questionable Choices!

Alright action junkies, MikeCinema here again. Figured I needed to cleanse the palate after all those explosions and car chases. So, I did...something...and watched 'Blame It on Rio' (1984). Okay, look, I'm all for escapism, but this movie is WILDLY uncomfortable now. Teenager seducing her dad's best friend? Yikes. Michael Caine is usually awesome, but seeing him in this just feels…icky. I'm not gonna lie, the Rio scenery is gorgeous. But even the beautiful beaches can't wash away the ick factor. The whole premise feels exploitative and the humor just doesn't land. There's this one scene where Michelle Johnson (as Jennifer) is constantly coming onto Matthew (Caine) and it's just...cringey. I appreciate the '80s beach vibe but even that is not enough. I know it was a different time, but still! I think its best to be forgotten. I kinda wish I hadn't watched it. Definitely not one I can endorse. Sticking to explosions and practical stunts from now on! What were people thinking back then?! Lol. Anyone else seen this and felt the same way? Or am I just getting old and grumpy?
