"Vacanze in America" - The Outfit Obsession is Real!

Okay, so I just rewatched "Vacanze in America" and while it's definitely...of its time lol, I couldn't help but fixate on the clothes! Seriously, it's a cheesy comedy, but the 80s fashion is EVERYTHING. Those preppy San Crispino boys in their polos and khakis initially seem so tame, but then they land in the US and it's like a total style explosion. I especially loved when they were filming their movie, that girl was a fashion statement. I can't quite put my finger on who reminds her of, but somewhere in the 80's celebrities for sure! I'm not saying it's high fashion, obviously, but there are some surprisingly rad moments. Like, when they're in New York, the casual streetwear vibes are on point. And then when they hit California, it's all sunshine, surfwear, and neon, which is exactly what you imagine. Father Don Buro's attempt at blending in is particularly hilarious – his 'cool dad' outfits are just so cringey-good. Honestly, the film isn't exactly a profound cinematic experience, but as a time capsule of 80s fashion and a pretty lighthearted romp, it's a fun watch. I was constantly pausing to screenshot outfits. Anyone else feel the same? Or am I just overly obsessed with 80s style? Maybe I'm due a re-think!
