Back to the Future: Time Travel Plot Hole or Genius?!?

Okay, so I finally watched 'Back to the Future' last night. I know, I know, I'm super late to the party, but I'm trying to catch up on all these classics everyone's always talking about. Overall, I really dug it, especially the whole 80s vibe and Michael J. Fox's acting, even if the setup was kinda wild. But something's been bugging me all day and I need to get it off my chest. It's about the whole 'erasing yourself from existence' thing. So, Marty screws up his parents' meeting, right? And starts fading out of photos? That makes sense in a time-travel logic kinda way. But then, at the Enchantment Under the Sea dance, he gets them to kiss and everything's supposedly fixed. My question is: Shouldn't he still be slightly different? Like, his parents' first kiss, their initial connection, EVERYTHING changed because of Marty's accidental interference. Shouldn't that ripple through his whole life affecting him, even if he isn't erased completely? Why did he just pop back into existence exactly the same? Maybe this is overthinking it. It's a movie, after all. Maybe the director (whoever they are) just wanted a feel-good ending and didn't want to get bogged down in the complexities of time travel. But it just seems like a HUGE plot hole, or maybe I'm missing something? I'd love to hear what you guys think. Am I just being too critical of a fun movie, or is there are some other stuff I am missing? Also, sidenote, even if the time travel stuff doesn't hold up, it really made me start thinking about what I would do if I could go back in time... maybe just go back and buy a bunch of vintage watches haha!
