Okay, Hear Me Out: Was Bender Set Up in The Breakfast Club?

Hey film fans! Hannahfilmbuff back at it again, probably my 100th time watching The Breakfast Club, haha. I was thinking... is it just me, or does it feel like Bender was almost meant to be in detention that day? Like, Principal Vernon wanted him there specifically. Think about it. Every other kid has a fairly minor infraction, right? Claire snuck out to fool around, Brian cheated, Andrew taped someone's buttcheeks together (classic), and Allison... well, she's Allison. But Bender? He pulled the freakin' fire alarm! That's WAY more serious and could have gotten him expelled. Vernon is obsessed with him from the jump, constantly singling him out and provoking him. It's like he NEEDS Bender to react so he can justify coming down hard on him. I feel like Vernon might have been looking for any excuse to nail him. Maybe Vernon had a beef with Bender's family or something? It's not explicitly stated, but all the focus on Bender feels off somehow. And remember when Bender takes the screws out of the door? It just feels like he subconsciously wants to get caught. Obviously, he's a rebel, but maybe he's also got a weird kind of subconscious need for authority figures to pay attention to him, even if it's negative attention. Anyway, it's probably just me overthinking things (as usual!), but I'd love to hear what you guys think. Am I reaching here, or is there actually something shady going on with Vernon's vendetta against Bender? Let me know!
