Okay, I'm Officially a Goonie (For Life!)
So, I finally watched 'The Goonies'. I know, I know, I'm like, 40 years late to the party. But oh my GOD, you guys, my heart is STILL fluttering. I honestly teared up, like, three times! Okay, maybe four. Seeing those kids – Mikey's determination, Chunk's...Chunk-ness (love him!), Data's crazy inventions – it just filled me with this overwhelming sense of nostalgia for a childhood I didn't even have, LOL. Like, I WISH I had a group of friends who'd go on a treasure hunt with me. Imagine the snacks! And Sloth?! Ugh, my heart. When Chunk befriends him and they're protecting each other? I was a MESS. Seriously, I needed tissues. I think that whole scene really gets to the core of what makes the movie so special – it's about acceptance and seeing the good in everyone, even the people (or, you know, creatures) who look a little different. It all got me thinking about times I felt like an outsider myself, and how important it is to find your tribe, your 'Goonies', you know? I think I'll rewatch it with my kids, just to solidify my recommendation. The only thing that kinda bugged me was the Fratelli's... They felt just a little cartoonish, even for a kids movie. But even THAT got to me, 'cause they were just trying to make money for their mom! I'm such a sap, I know. Still, I’m ready to fight anyone who doesn't think 'The Goonies' is the sweetest adventure movie ever. Goonies never say die! Okay, I'm done fangirling now. Maybe. P.S. – Is it weird that I kind of had a crush on Josh Brolin in this? I mean, he's like, 16, but… whatever! Don't judge me.
