Rocky IV: Totally '80s and Still Gets Me!

Okay, so I know Rocky IV isn't exactly high art, but it's one of those movies I can't help but love! Maybe it's the nostalgia talking (I was a kid when it came out!), or maybe it's just the sheer ridiculousness of it all, but it's so entertaining. Seriously, from the robot that Paulie is obsessed with, to the training montage in Siberia that's basically just Rocky chopping wood and lifting rocks... it's just pure '80s cheese in the best way possible. Plus, the soundtrack is killer! I think my husband rolls his eyes every time I put it on, but I swear, the fight scenes still give me goosebumps. The whole America vs. Russia thing is so over-the-top, but it really does get you invested. And, like, Drago is terrifying. Dolph Lundgren did a fantastic job making him seem so cold and unbeatable. Apollo's death is still so shocking, even though I know it's coming. It's definitely the emotional center of the film, which, let's be honest, is probably a little more depth than it deserves, haha! I think what resonates with me, even watching it now as a mom, is that underlying message of perseverance and never giving up. Yeah, it's cheesy, but it's a good message to remember, especially when things get tough. Also, I love seeing Rocky’s relationship with his son, even though he's not in it a ton. It reminds me to slow down and appreciate those moments with my kiddos. Anyone else have a soft spot for Rocky IV, or am I alone here? What's your favorite ridiculous moment? Let me know!
