Rocky IV: If He Dies, He Dies (and other quotables)
Alright fight fans, scottscreens back again. Gotta talk about Rocky IV. Peak 80s, peak Stallone, peak everything, right? Look, is it subtle? Absolutely not. Is it dripping with Cold War cheese? You betcha. But damn is it entertaining. First off, Apollo Creed's entrance? Iconic. James Brown doing "Living in America"? Give me a break, it's amazing. Then Drago just...destroying him? Heartbreaking. "If he dies, he dies" changed the way I looked at working out for years. I mean, seriously chilling stuff. And then Rocky goes to Siberia? Training in the snow while Drago's got all the high-tech Soviet stuff? It's so over-the-top it's great. The montage alone gives this movie at least a solid 7/10. Plus, BURT YOUNG delivering gold with every line. Honestly, the fight at the end is what seals it. The crowd slowly turning from booing Rocky to cheering him on? Gives me goosebumps every time. It's pure, unadulterated underdog story and I eat it up. I even get a little emotional with that speech he gives at the end, how everyone can change... yeah it's cheesy, but it works, dammit! Is it perfect? Not even close. Is it one of the most quotable and rewatchable films of the 80s? Absolutely. Okay, alright, I've said enough. What'd you guys think about it? What's your FAVORITE quote?? Hit me in the comments.
