Rambo II - Okay, I have some SERIOUS questions...

Okay, so last night we watched Rambo: First Blood Part II... and I'm still processing. First Blood was gritty and actually kinda thoughtful, right? Like, a war vet struggling to readjust. This one felt... different. WAY different. Was this even the same character? I mean, the muscles were impressive, don't get me wrong, but it felt like they traded character development for explosions. Did anyone else feel that whiplash? I know it's an action movie and all, but the dialogue was...minimalist, to say the least. He basically grunts his way through the whole movie! And the whole 'secret mission' thing? I get it, government conspiracy and all that. But did they REALLY think sending Rambo BACK to Vietnam was the best idea? Like, what was going through their heads? Murdock was such a slimy character, I loved to hate him, but even I, a normal gal, could tell the mission was a setup from mile one. And the love interest, Co Bao... I liked her, but her death felt kinda... forced? Like they just needed to up the stakes by fridging her. I'm curious if anyone else felt the same or if I'm just overthinking it while needing my morning coffee. So, my big question is: did they lean too hard into the action and leave the actual storyline in the dust? I mean, it's entertaining, sure, but is it actually... good? Or is it just pure 80s action cheese? I'm torn! What did you guys think? I'm ready to hear someone defend it cuz part of me is sure I'm missing something here. I need answers, people! Or at least, opinions...
