"Return" (1985) - Creepy AF and I'm So Confused... Anyone Else Seen This?
Okay, so I stumbled across this movie "Return" (1985) the other night and…wow. It was definitely something. The premise is so weird - this lady, Nancy, thinks this dude named Brian might be the reincarnation of her dead grandpa who died, like, when she was three. She gets this idea because she reads an article about his hypnotic regression. Like, what are the odds?! It's got a really unsettling vibe throughout. The best part (or creepiest, depending on how you look at it) is probably when Brian starts drawing things without realizing it, and they're all old-timey and related to Nancy's family history. Then there is this scene where Nancy gets hypnotized along with Brain and starts to channel the consciousness of her grandpa - this whole scene was so captivating. Like, I don't REALLY believe in reincarnation but the movie did make me question it a bit. My main question is - did anyone else find the ending super abrupt? It felt like the film kind of just stops without fully resolving the mystery of what happened to the grandfather. Also, what was up with some of the acting? Some of it was great, but some of it was laughably bad, almost like a cheesy B-movie. Still, I'm glad I watched it, it kept me hooked. So yeah, anyone else seen "Return"? What did you guys think? Am I missing something crucial, or was that ending just...that weird and unsatisfying?
