"Brains!" or Brawns? Re: Return of the Living Dead

Okay, so I know I'm usually all about the meet-cutes and grand gestures, but sometimes you just need a good, cheesy zombie flick, right? I finally caved and watched Return of the Living Dead (don't ask me why it took so long!) and... wow. Just wow. It's SO different from your typical Romero fare. Like, the zombies actually talk and are obsessed with brains? Who came up with that brilliance?! Specifically, I'm fixated on the scene where the punks in the graveyard are trying to figure out what's going on. Scuz, Spider, and Trash are iconic. Especially Trash's dancing on the tomb! The whole thing is so over-the-top and ridiculous, but in the best way possible. Although, for a zombie flick, it has surprisingly little gore. It's more funny than scary. My question is, for people who love this movie, do you think it's more of a horror comedy, or a comedy horror? Like, does the horror element genuinely scare you (even a little), or is it mostly just there to facilitate the laughs? And, like, be honest; if you were in that graveyard, would you have even considered dancing on a tombstone? 'Cause I think I'd be running the other way... Unless those zombies are REALLY bad dancers, lol. Tell me your thoughts!
