Clue: Was it you, in the library, with the candlestick?
Alright, alright, confession time. I just re-watched 'Clue' (1985) and I gotta say, it STILL holds up. I mean, the sheer manic energy alone is worth the price of admission. Every character is dialed up to 11, especially Tim Curry as Wadsworth. He's basically narrating a train wreck and trying to keep his composure all at the same time. "I'm going to snap!" You and me both, buddy. And the multiple endings? Genius! Even back then, it felt so fresh and innovative. The escalating chaos in each ending is HILARIOUS. Mrs. Peacock screaming "I hated her so much!" after killing the cook is such a perfect delivery. Plus, the physical comedy? Don't even get me started. Madeline Kahn as Mrs. White is just a comedic force of nature. That whole "Flames...flames on the side of my face..." bit is iconic for a reason. I still quote that to this day whenever something moderately inconvenient happens. Honestly, I think what I appreciate most about 'Clue' is how it embraces its own absurdity. It knows it's ridiculous, and it just runs with it. It's a movie that doesn't take itself seriously for a second, and that's why it's so endlessly rewatchable. It's pure, unadulterated fun. And who doesn’t love some good old fashioned murder and mayhem, am I right? What did YOU think of Clue? Also, I always forget Eileen Brennan is in it! The scene where she gets caught lying about her "husband" is solid gold.
