Police Academy 2: Okay, I Laughed... But Also, Ugh

Okay, so I watched Police Academy 2: Their First Assignment last night. I know, I know, it's dumb. But sometimes you just need some pure, unadulterated silliness, right? And let's be honest, some of the gags DID get me. Like, when Tackleberry is going all Rambo on the bad guys with his massive weaponry? I snorted, I admit it. And Zed! Oh god, Zed. Bobcat Goldthwait is just...unhinged. The scene where he's leading the gang and doing his weird voice? I was cracking up. But here's the thing: while parts of it were funny, other parts were just...cringey. The whole thing with Sweetchuck and Zed? Super uncomfortable and borderline mean-spirited. And some of the jokes just felt really dated and not in a good way. I mean, I'm all for silly humor, but there's a difference between silly and just...blah. I think they tried too hard to recapture the magic of the first one and it just kinda fell flat in places. What REALLY bothered me, though, was how the characters acted stupid to make the police look bad. You know, that's not very nice. I hate stuff like that. I get that it's a comedy, but still! Be respectful! Overall, it was a mixed bag. I laughed, I cringed, I face-palmed. If you're looking for something to turn your brain off and chuckle at, it might do the trick. But don't expect anything groundbreaking. Also, it made me want to rewatch the first one because, let's be real, that one's way better. What did you guys think? Am I being too harsh? Let me know!
