Re-Animator: Best. Mad Scientist. EVER?

Okay, so I just re-watched "Re-Animator" (again!) and I gotta say, Herbert West is like... the pinnacle of mad scientist goals. I mean, yeah, he's totally unhinged and unethical, but the sheer dedication! The world-building potential in that serum is insane! I'm talking armies of the undead, bio-engineered supersoldiers, just... think of the possibilities! But seriously, beyond the gore (which, let's be honest, is pretty amazing for practical effects) I always get stuck on the implications of the reanimation process itself. Is it just restoring electrical impulses? Is it copying the original brain state? And that cat scene... that's some dark stuff, but it REALLY plants the seed in your head about how West genuinely sees this as scientific progress, even if it's horrifying. So here's my question for you all: if you had access to the Re-Animator serum (hypothetically, of course!), what would be the FIRST experiment you'd run? I'm thinking controlled environment, maybe some brain scans before and after… gotta get that data, right? Also, am I the only one who thinks that Dr. Hill's head-butting skills are underrated? Like, that's some serious dedication to being a villain even after death. Talk about commitment! And one last thing: what are some other movies that explore similar reanimation concepts, but maybe go into more depth about the philosophical repercussions? I'm always looking for new rabbit holes to explore.
