Phenomena and The Argento Butterfly Effect? (Theory)

Alright folks, MikeCinema here, back with another late-night deep dive! Just rewatched Argento's Phenomena and I'm convinced there's more going on under the surface than just Jennifer Connelly battling bugs and a chimp with a straight razor (which, let's be honest, is already a LOT). I'm starting to think Argento was playing with the whole 'butterfly effect' thing way before it was cool. Think about it: Jennifer's insect powers aren't just about finding the killer. They're about her influencing the environment, right? She can command insects, change their behavior, alter the entire ecosystem. That swarm of flies she unleashes at the end? That's not just a cool visual, that's a HUGE disruption. And what about that scene where the insects help her navigate the forest? Minor choices, facilitated by her unique ability, could drastically change her outcome, and even the outcome for the other students. My theory? Argento was subtly suggesting that Jennifer's powers aren't just investigative tools, but also a source of profound responsibility. She's literally capable of changing the world around her with the twitch of a bug's antenna. Maybe that's why the professor is so keen to help her control it. It's more than solving murders; it's about preventing unintended consequences. I know the movie's messy and sometimes straight up bonkers, but I think this theory adds another layer to it. Anyone else see it this way, or am I totally reaching here? Let me know in the comments! Maybe I've been hitting the espresso too hard tonight...
