Morinaga's "RETURN" (1985) - Anyone Else See This?

Okay, so I just finished watching Norihiko Morinaga's "RETURN" (1985) – it's this weird 8mm film, super obscure, and I'm kind of obsessed. I'm usually all about the big, beautifully shot dramas from Europe and South America, but this low-budget Japanese film just hit different. I found it streaming on some underground platform, naturally, lol. Anyone else stumble across this one? It's hard to really describe the plot. It's more like a vibe, a mood. This guy is seemingly searching for something, maybe himself, and the whole thing is shot with this hazy, dreamlike quality. There's this one scene, I think near the middle, where he's wandering along a beach at sunset. The colors are all washed out, the music is this simple, repeating melody, and it just felt... haunting? I know, super vague, but trust me, it's the kind of movie you feel more than understand. The imperfections in the film quality actually add to the feeling, like you're watching a memory fade away. I'm not gonna pretend it's a perfect film, or even that everyone would like it. It's definitely not for those who need a tidy narrative. But if you're into experimental cinema and Japanese new wave, and you're okay with a film that asks more questions than it answers, give "RETURN" a shot. I'd love to hear what someone else thinks of it! Maybe I'm just completely off base here, haha.
