Okay, Demons (1985) - WHAT WAS UP WITH THAT??
Alright, so I just finished watching Demons, and I'm officially creeped out but also... kinda laughing? Don't get me wrong, the demons themselves were pretty gross and the whole idea of turning into one is super messed up. But the acting? Some of it was just SO bad it was good! Anyone else feel that way? Especially that random dude with the motorcycle sword, I mean seriously?! Where did he even get that thing? And why was he so chill about demons tearing people apart? He was like, 'Oh, this is my life now. Demon slaying with a motorcycle sword.' lol. I actually jumped a few times, especially during the scene where the girl gets scratched by the mask in the lobby and bam demon transformation. That makeup was surprisingly effective, even for an older movie - the bulging veins and teeth were gnarly! But then, like, the random heavy metal soundtrack kicking in during the fight scenes? It's like they couldn't decide if they wanted to be scary or a total cheese-fest. I'm normally not into super gory movies, but there was something about the over-the-top-ness of it all that made me keep watching. It's definitely a 'so bad it's good' kinda movie. I did hate the ending - so abrupt! Like, what happens next?! So, my question is: did anyone else find this movie as strangely entertaining as I did? And what was your favorite (or least favorite) demon kill? I'm leaning toward the helicopter crash into the screen... that was peak ridiculousness. Tell me I'm not alone in thinking this movie is a wild ride!
