Demons (1985): The REAL Virus Movie? Hear me out...

Alright action junkies, MikeCinema here. Been thinking about Demons (1985) lately, that Italian splatterfest. Totally holds up in terms of pure, gruesome fun. But I had a thought – what if it's secretly a killer metaphor for… a virus? Stick with me. Think about it: a small group, trapped. An infection spreads rapidly, transforming people into something monstrous. The more they infect, the faster it spreads, right? That's basically pandemic 101. I know Demons is all about supernatural stuff, but the way it plays out feels strangely relevant today. The whole scene with the girl scratching her face with the demon mask – that's Patient Zero right there. And then, bam, everyone's infected by touch, by proximity. Even the motorcycles are used as weapons, like vectors spreading the disease further into the theater. The practical effects are so over-the-top and raw that they almost make it believable, y'know? Like, you can practically feel the infection spreading. It's way more visceral than any CGI virus movie I've seen. Plus the over the top 80s score is chef's kiss. Now, I'm not saying Romero didn't do the zombie virus first. Of course he did. And Shivers is legit too. But Demons' insane escalation and closed-environment setting gives it this unique claustrophobic dread. It's like a visual representation of how quickly fear (and misinformation, let's be honest) can spread in a panicked population. The theater itself becomes a petri dish, incubating the… well, you get the idea. Maybe I'm reading too much into it. It probably wasn't intentional. But the next time you watch Demons, try to see it as a pre-internet cautionary tale about a rapidly escalating, contagious… thing. And tell me if I'm completely off my rocker. What are your theories?
