Madonna's Armpits & 80s Chaos: My Take on Desperately Seeking Susan
Okay, so I finally watched "Desperately Seeking Susan" and...wowza. What a trip! I knew Madonna was in it, but it was way more 80s than I even imagined. Like, the fashion alone is worth the price of admission! I loved how Roberta, the suburban housewife, just totally throws her life away chasing this mysterious Susan character. It's kinda crazy, but also relatable? Like, who hasn't wanted to just run away and be someone else for a day? The whole mistaken identity thing was hilarious, especially when Roberta keeps getting deeper and deeper into Susan's mess. I cracked up when she ended up in that magician's act. And the music! Major earworms. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be humming that main theme song for the rest of the week. Speaking of Susan, I can see why everyone's so obsessed with Madonna in this movie. She just oozes effortless cool. The scene in the bath with the champagne and the cigarette? ICONIC. Also, random but I did notice her armpit hair.. it was just a glimpse but I was like wow that's so 80s lol I did find some parts a little confusing, especially towards the end with the whole stolen jewelry plot. I'm not entirely sure I followed what was happening, but honestly, I was having too much fun to really care. It was just a fun, silly adventure movie. Aidan Quinn was cute too, but he seemed kind of bland compared to the over-the-top energy of everything else. Overall, I'd say "Desperately Seeking Susan" is a solid watch if you're looking for a fun, quirky movie with a healthy dose of 80s nostalgia. Don't expect a super deep plot, but definitely expect some laughs and a whole lotta style. I'd give it like... 4 out of 5 stars? Maybe 3.5 but I'm feeling generous.
