"Jagged Edge": Is It as Sharp as It Thinks?

Okay, cinephiles! OliviaCinema here, back with another adaptation chat. I recently dove into "Jagged Edge" (1985) after someone recommended it as a classic thriller. First impressions? Well, it's definitely a product of its time – big hair, power suits, and a plot thick enough to cut with a… jagged edge, I guess? The story is your basic rich-person-gets-murdered-and-the-spouse-is-the-obvious-suspect thing. Jeff Bridges plays the charming-but-maybe-guilty husband, and Glenn Close is the lawyer who gets pulled out of retirement to defend him. Close is fantastic, no surprises there. She brings a real grit and intelligence to the role that keeps you invested even when the plot gets a little…suspect. There's a definite spark between her and Bridges, which adds a nice layer of tension as you’re trying to figure out if she's being played. Honestly, I spent half the movie yelling at the screen, "Don't trust him!" The whole anonymous note thing felt a bit clunky, and honestly, I saw the twist coming a mile away. It's not badly done, just…predictable. What REALLY got me was the ending. The resolution felt rushed and a little unsatisfying. It's like they ran out of budget or something. But overall, it's a solid thriller with strong performances. Would I watch it again? Probably not anytime soon. BUT it gave me some 80s nostalgia, and Glenn Close is always worth the price of admission. Have you guys seen it? What did you think of the ending? Was it just me, or did it feel a little…off?
