Firefighters (1985) - Squadra 17 are secretly good guys?

Okay, so I just watched 'Firefighters' (1985) and, like, it's hilarious how terrible Squadra 17 is at everything. Seriously, they mess up every single mission! But I have this weird theory that maybe, just maybe, they're not actually incompetent. Hear me out! What if all their screw-ups are actually really elaborate… distractions? Okay, I know it sounds crazy. But think about it. Every "accident" seems to, in some way, benefit someone or even just creates a really funny outcome. Like, remember the scene where they accidentally flood the whole street trying to put out a tiny fire? Maybe, just maybe, they were trying to help someone whose business was failing by making them need repairs?? Or maybe that's a stretch, haha. But I think it's more fun to think they're secretly doing good deeds in a super weird, chaotic way. Maybe they are a bunch of Robin Hood-esque fireman, just with really bad execution skills. Maybe it's just because I love the comedy, especially when they "rescue" that lady from the tree and end up accidentally setting the whole tree on fire LOL. But seriously, the timing of their mistakes is almost too perfect. Like, they fail so consistently it makes you wonder if it's by design. I need to rewatch and pay close attention to what they do. Do you think my theory has legs or am I just too deep in thought after so many viewings??
