Just saw 'The Last Dragon'... is this movie INSANE or am I missing something?!
Okay, so I'm trying to broaden my horizons and check out some classic movies I somehow missed. Last night I watched 'The Last Dragon' (1985) based on... well, honestly, based on the title and the cover art lol. I went in completely blind. I was expecting something kinda cheesy, but this went above and beyond! Like, Leroy Green searching for the 'glow' is one thing, but SHO'NUFF?! That dude is seriously one of the the best villains I've seen in... well, ever? The way he walks around like he owns the place, and his outfits... pure genius. And Vanity's character, Laura Charles, she was awesome and gorgeous! But the whole plot with trying to save her from that sleazy producer, Eddie Arkadian, felt kinda disconnected from the martial arts stuff. Did anyone else feel that way? I guess my main question is, is this movie supposed to be this over-the-top? Like, the glowing hands, the cheesy soundtrack... it felt like a parody, but I don't think it was trying to be? I was laughing the whole time, but I'm not sure if I was laughing with the movie or at it! I gotta know if I'm just totally missing the point or if this is just how people rolled back in the 80s. Also, someone PLEASE tell me where I can get Sho'nuff's outfit for Halloween this year!
